The problem of flue gas emission pollution in coal-fired power plants has gradually attracted people's attention and attention. In order to meet national environmental protection regulations and reduce engineering costs, major power generation companies generally adopt wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) without adding flue gas heating system (GGH) process. If FGD is installed without GGH, the flue gas temperature discharged into the chimney is about 50℃, and the wet flue gas condenses in the chimney to form condensed acid liquid, which greatly enhances the corrosion of the chimney. In order to solve the anti-corrosion problem of wet chimneys, it is necessary to seek a chimney type that is acid-resistant and anti-corrosion, meets structural requirements, and is economical and applicable. FRP chimneys provide us with a better choice.


FRP (FRP) is anti-corrosion and heat-insulating, lightweight and high-strength, and can be used as the lining of wet chimneys for desulfurization of coal-fired power plants without GGH. Glass fiber reinforced plastic (FRP or GRP) is a new type of composite material composed of high-strength glass fiber and resin. Glass fiber provides strength and rigidity of FRP, and resin provides chemical resistance and toughness of FRP. FRP concentrates the characteristics of glass fiber and synthetic resin, and has the advantages of light weight, high strength, chemical corrosion resistance, insulation and heat insulation, instantaneous high temperature ablation resistance, strong strength and shape designability. The tensile strength of the FRP structure layer after molding is equivalent to that of ordinary steel, but its bulk density is only 1/4~1/5 of that of steel. The FRP smoke exhaust pipe produced by the overall winding molding process can be self-supporting and has better acid resistance and corrosion resistance than sulfuric acid dew point resistant steel. The insulation layer can be eliminated, which is particularly suitable for the operation conditions of wet chimneys without GGH in coal-fired power plant desulfurization.


Flue gas desulfurization and the development of clean energy are the general trend. FRP composite materials have natural low-temperature corrosion resistance advantages and are very suitable for wet chimneys after desulfurization in coal-fired power plants. In the United States, FRP smoke stacks have a market share of 10-15%, and have more than 30 years of application experience. China has also accumulated rich experience in the design, processing and production of FRP structures, which can fully meet the design and construction needs of FRP chimneys.
