Stainless steel chimneys are lined with alloy steel plates. Metal alloy steel linings are generally nickel-based alloy plates (C-276) and titanium plates (TiCr2). They have good corrosion resistance and are the best materials for chimney corrosion protection so far. They are widely used in foreign power plants. However, they are rarely used in China due to their high price.
Alloy composite plates are made on the ground and welded into shape on site. Using alloy steel plates as chimney linings is too expensive, which is generally about 10 times the cost of coating anti-corrosion. In addition, the welding of alloy materials is relatively complex and the construction period is long. It is generally not suitable for the renovation of old chimneys.
Using foamed acid-resistant glass bricks as linings. The foamed acid-resistant glass bricks used in China can be divided into two types: Bingaode bricks and domestic glass bricks. It has good anti-corrosion performance and a general lifespan of more than 20 years. It has very successful application cases abroad, but it is expensive and has high costs.
Domestic manufacturers of foamed acid-resistant glass bricks are limited by technology and are still in the imitation tracking stage. There is a certain gap between their technology and products and those of foreign countries. The use of regular and qualified foamed acid-resistant glass brick lining has good anti-corrosion performance and long service life, but the project investment is high, the construction period is long, and the load is relatively large, which makes it difficult to reform old chimneys.
Polymer coatings The main anti-corrosion solution of polymer coatings is to use some acid-resistant and high-temperature resistant organic polymers, which are attached to the inner wall of stainless steel chimneys in the form of coatings to prevent corrosive substances from directly contacting the inner wall of the chimney, thereby protecting the chimney. Polymer coatings have the characteristics of simple construction, low engineering cost, and a wide range of applicable chimneys, so they are widely accepted.
